COLUMBIA DISTRICT CONDOS
Bounded by Ash Street, F Street, Union Street and the Pacific Ocean is the Columbia District.Although previously it has been largely a commercial area, that is changing with the development of new high-rise condominiums. Two former districts, one commercial and one
recreational, formed the Columbia district.
Thanks to the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, the waterfront in this district has been under extensive redevelopment adding entertainment, dining, and shopping. The North Embarcadero Visionary Plan was developed to help create a new direction for San Diego by linking the downtown area with the Bay. The new development plan for the Columbia district also includes restructured piers, new activity centers and increased natural access to the area. Natural environment is emphasized over commercial with over $50 million designated for public amenities. All these new amenities help create an inviting and exciting place to live and relax.
The district also houses history and culture with the Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum, the Maritime Museum and the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art. The National Registered Historic Land Mark, the Santa Fe Depot is located right across the street from the museum of art. The Federal and County courthouses, and the State Office Building are also located in this district.
The new development, the museums, and the waterfront provide a hub of excitement and vitality to the area. The downtown San Diego condos featured in the Columbia district are the Electra, Marina Park, The Grande, and the Treo.
