Buddy Holly and The Crickets
Normally on this blog I like to talk about something about Downtown San Diego, but sometimes events overtake real estate. Most of you won't have an idea of who Ed Sullivan was, but if you were born before 1950 you will know that this was the most watched Sunday show in the U.S. My family along with lots of other familiessat down at 8 pm on Sunday evenings for years and years to watch Ed Sullivan. The Beatles, the Animals, the Rolling Stones all made American debuts on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Buddy Holly was one of the great rock and roll singers in the 1950's. Hundreds if not thousands of singers have been singing Buddy Holly songs over the last 50 years. The songs are as up to date now as they were then. December 1, 1957 was Buddy Holly's debut on the Ed Sullivan show. I know it may not seem much to many, but to us few, it was our youth.
