New Condos Downtown San Diego-Festival of Sail
Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 1:46PM This is Why San Diego.....
Sometimes people ask me why are prices so high in San Diego? Here is an answer. The picture speaks for itself. I took this morning off to go to Cabrillo Monument and watch the tall ships begin their journey into the harbor for the Festival of Sail 2008. It took the first ship an hour from entering the mouth of the harbor to reach the Embarcadero at the foot of Broadway. Pirate ships, clipper ships, old sailboats all made this journey and it was so enjoyable to watch their progress.
It is often said we pay for the weather here and then find a home or condo if we are lucky. There is some truth to that. The weather today just reminded me of why I came to San Diego a number of years ago to go to college. There is something clean and refreshing about being near the ocean.
Those of us who live here sometimes get sidetracked by day to day life. We all need to experience some event like Festival of Sail to remind us how lucky we are to live in San Diego. Those who love the snow and wintery seasons can have them. I prefer the sun and the warmth of San Diego.
