When newer condos in Downtown San Diego were first marketed, the developers ignored the benefits of VA loans. The pricing structure was generally higher than VA limits, so it made no sense to a builder to go through the process in both time and money. However, as the market has dropped in price, VA loans have become more attractive to a Downtown San Diego condo buyer. Several projects have gone back to the beginning and have completed the VA approval process. We have sold several VA buyers over the last few months so although the VA limits have decreased this year for the San Diego area, VA loans are still viable for a number of projects and a wider pool of buyers.
