Downtown San Diego: Sothebys and Diamonds

Sometimes we see interesting things that are not related to the specific topic of selling a Downtown San Diego condo.  We like to think of ourselves as well rounded so when we see these interesting topics, we love to follow up.

How would you like to receive a diamond this size as a present? To tell you the truth, I would be too paranoid about losing it, but for the right purchaser, this 110.3 carat Sun-Drop diamond is pretty awesome.

One of the fabulous things about being affliliated with Sothebys is that we see what is going on at the auction houses around the world.  This Sun-Drop diamond sold in the Geneval Sothebys Auction house for $12,361,558.  This stone is known as the largest pear-shaped fancy vivid diamond in the world.

Discovered in 2010 the diamond was cut and polished and then exhibited in the London Natural History Museum prior to its inclusion in the Geneva Sothebys Auction.  The auction as always, included some awesome jewelry and if you are interested in what else sold, you can visit the Sothebys Auction summary page.

Personally this diamond looks pretty big to be wearing around, but for the right person at the right party, this will make an amazing accessory.  If the diamond is this costly, imagine what the home must look like for the person who purchased this Sun-Drop diamond.
