San Diego Soccer Excitement: Bend It Like Beckham

Will Beckham show or not? That is the question.  USD is providing the field for an exhibition game between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente.

This once in a lifetime game is scheduled for Wednesday March 2nd in USD's Torero Stadium (soccer field) next to the Jenny Craig Pavilion.  Starting time is 7 pm so you have time to get to USD after work.

For soccer fans, this is exciting. Normally a game like this with a star like Beckham would cost an arm and a leg to attend.  These type exhibition games cost the host stadium lots of money.  However, USD is the right place at the right time.  It seems the coaches, including Bruce Arena,  want to see how the team actually plays outside on a stadium-style field instead of inside a building.  Since the season starts March 15th, this is a perfect preseason game.

USD is definitely the winner in this exhibition game.  Because San Diego is so close to the Mexican border and because we have such a diverse population, soccer is actually a very popular sport.  For the Xolos, this is a wonderful opportunity to play in front of a paying crowd and in the United States.  Right now Mexico has such a poor reputation for safety every bit of positive PR is appreciated.

Since USD is centrally located, access will be easy.  Weather should be great, and the USD people will be wonderful hosts and hostesses.  If you would like to purchase tickets you can either visit the box office at the Jenny Craig Pavilion box office, call the box office at 619-260-7550. or click to visit the USD website.

Seeking out any dental schools in your local area is a great place to start. These institutions will most likely have trained local practitioners and will be able to offer solid recommendations. Be sure to ask for the names and contacts of practicing faculty members.
