Coronado Shores: January and February 2012 Closed Sales.

The Coronado Shores are one of the three lifestyle areas in Coronado.  People who prefer walking enjoy residing in the Village.  Boat lovers and owners enjoy the Coronado Cays. Those who prefer high rise secure ocean living select the Coronado Shores.

Currently there are 34 units for sale in the Coronado Shores.  Based on the sales absorption during January and February (3.5 units closed per month), there is a 9.7 months inventory for the Shores. This is actually a better inventory rate because a few months back there were 43-44 units available for sale in the Shores.

The following units closed escrow during January and February 2012.  As you will see, 1 one-bedroom unit and 6 two-bedroom units closed escrow.  The one-bedroom unit closed at $709.30 per square foot and is located in La Princessa. Based on closed two-bedroom sales, the average square footage of 1311 sq. ft., closed at an average $1,057,500 or $807 per square foot. The highest priced unit was located on a higher floor in Cabrillo. You can compare location of units if you go to our Coronado Crowns page and view the Shores map.

Coronado: A Winter's Day in Paradise

I was in the office this morning and thought it might be fun to show our Coronado views on one little corner.  Our Pacific Sothebys office is located at 1200 Orange Avenue.  From here I can see the Bank of America, Bistro d'Asia, Ristorante Terrazza, Pacific Western Bank, Island Pasta, and in the close distance, the Hotel del Coronado.  When sitting in your home or condo and watching the snow, these photos might remind you what life in San Diego can be during the winter.  Even the parking meters are friendly in Coronado.  What other communities do you know where parking meters are covered during the Christmas season.

Homes and condos offer an opportunity to enjoy our lifestyle.  If you would like to see what is available in Coronado, whether Coronado Village, Coronado Shores, or the Coronado Cays, just visit our search Coronado real estate for sale.

Downtown San Diego: Parade of Lights "Our 40th Anniversary, Back to the Future"

Photo courtesy of Nathan RupertLooking for something fun to do this coming Sunday evening, December 18th? How about the annual Parade of Lights in San Diego Harbor? This year's tour celebrates its 40th year of the parade. Isn't this photo, taken by Nathan Rupert, a great representation for the 40th year? This is a free event and you can view the boats from numerous locations in San Diego Harbor.

If you are having dinner at Anthonys or the Fish Market, you will have a front row seat from the Downtown San Diego side of the bay.  Take a walk around Seaport Village. If you would rather watch from the Coronado side, you can enjoy a dinner at I fornaio or Candelas at The Landing.

The parade route is actually about 7 miles and there will be thousands and thousands of viewers.  The parade begins about 5:30 p.m. at Shelter Island and will run until about 9 p.m.

For further information, or how to get there, visit the Parade of Lights website

Coronado Christmas Parade: Come and Join us in Coronado

Come join us for the 36th Annual Coronado Christmas Parade on Friday, December 2, 2011.  Coronado is a friendly community and residents are always involved in community activities.  One of the biggest and most enjoyable Coronado activities is the parade.  We have kids walking their dogs, bands playing their music, floats, antique cars and lots of other fun parade participants.  Should you decide to come to the parade, here is a synopsis of activities:

    • 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. is Snow Mountain at the Coronado Ferry Landing
    • 3:20 p.m. is when Santa arrives at the Coronado Ferry Landing
    • 5:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. is when Coronado merchants have their open house.  Some offer snacks and free items
    • 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. is the parade.  The Christmas Parade is unique because it proceeds down one side of the divided street, makes a u turn down by the Del Coronado Hotel and returns back down Orange Avenue on the other side of the street.
    • 7:00 p.m. the Rotary Plaza Christmas Tree is lit.
    • 7:15 p.m. the Coronado Community Band gives a concert at Rotary Plaza and the ?Mid-Life Crisis" Band plays at 9th and Orange Avenue.

The Hotel Del Coronado also has it's holiday festival activities including the outdoor "Skating by the Sea" on the rink overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

There is definitely something for everyone during our Coronado Christmas season and we hope you come over to the island to enjoy our Coronado lifestyle.  Stop by our Pacific Sothebys office at 1200 Orange Avenue to see our Santa and get a picture with Santa for your kids and grandkids.

Where To Eat in Coronado: Village Pizzeria

Whether you visit or live in Coronado, "Where do we eat?" is a question we are asked on a daily basis.  Our Pacific Sothebys International Realty office is located 1 1/2 blocks from the Hotel del Coronado and due to our awesome location, we are asked on a daily basis where is the "good" food.  Lucky for us, Coronado is full of some excellent restaurants, and on the whole, these Coronado restaurants are very reasonably priced.

One of my favorite Coronado restaurants is Village Pizzeria, located two door down from our office.  The convenience is great and the food is excellent.  As you can guess, Village Pizzeria is a pizza-styled restaurant.  There are days when it is torture to be in the office smelling the fantastic pizza smells wafting down the street to our office.

If you love pizza, this is the place.  However, if you want something with fewer calories, Village Pizzeria has a selection of salads.  My favorite of these salads is the Mediterrean salad.  I never paid much attention to salads other than to think all salads had lettuce.  Amazing how wrong I was.  The Mediterrean salad has no lettuce, but rather cucumber, tomato, cheese, olives, onions, feta and mozzarella cheese, banana peppers, olive oil and a wonderful balsamic glaze dressing.  Prices are very reasonable.  I order the small salad for under $7 and there is enough for two.

The next time you visit Coronado, stop by Village Pizzeria, either in the 1200 block of Orange, or down at the Landing.  You won't be surprised.

Thinking about buying a Coronado home or condo?  Come and enjoy our lifestyle.  This is a series of articles by Sharyn and Victoria Crown, Coronado real estate brokers.
