San Diego Soccer Excitement: Bend It Like Beckham

USD Soccer Field ready for David Beckham. Photo by PCSunny7 at Picasa Web Albums

Will Beckham show or not? That is the question.  USD is providing the field for an exhibition game between the Los Angeles Galaxy and Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente.

This once in a lifetime game is scheduled for Wednesday March 2nd in USD's Torero Stadium (soccer field) next to the Jenny Craig Pavilion.  Starting time is 7 pm so you have time to get to USD after work.

For soccer fans, this is exciting. Normally a game like this with a star like Beckham would cost an arm and a leg to attend.  These type exhibition games cost the host stadium lots of money.  However, USD is the right place at the right time.  It seems the coaches, including Bruce Arena,  want to see how the team actually plays outside on a stadium-style field instead of inside a building.  Since the season starts March 15th, this is a perfect preseason game.

USD is definitely the winner in this exhibition game.  Because San Diego is so close to the Mexican border and because we have such a diverse population, soccer is actually a very popular sport.  For the Xolos, this is a wonderful opportunity to play in front of a paying crowd and in the United States.  Right now Mexico has such a poor reputation for safety every bit of positive PR is appreciated.

Since USD is centrally located, access will be easy.  Weather should be great, and the USD people will be wonderful hosts and hostesses.  If you would like to purchase tickets you can either visit the box office at the Jenny Craig Pavilion box office, call the box office at 619-260-7550. or click to visit the USD website.

University of San Diego Housing: What's Available

If you attend or are planning to attend the University of San Diego, housing is going to be an issue.  Do you live on campus?  Do you rent a place in Mission Beach?  Do you purchase a property and rent rooms out to your friends?  There is a lot of choices in USD housing.  Here is a great unit for an investment.

This is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath townhome located within walking distance to USD is perfect if you want your own space and two additional bedrooms to rent out.

Victoria purchased a condo when she was attending USD and rented each of the extra  bedrooms for $1000 a month.  This was when sales prices were significantly higher than they are now.  With today's prices and 20% -25% downpayment, you have a great chance of breaking even, or pretty darn close to breakeven.

Imagine how the value of a unit near USD will increase once we come out of this housing morass.  USD is becoming more and more desirable to students all over the world.  There is no shortage of potential students and for the USD School of Business,  Burnham Moores Center, USD School of Education or Joan Kroc Peace and Justice. Students translate into tenants.

Downtown San Diego Condos: USD Parent Alert!

Are you looking to live close to the University of San Diego (USD)?  This is the perfect property for you or your college-bound child.  This has the quadruple 3's

    • 3 bedrooms
    • 3 baths
    • 3 car garage
    • 3 unit complex.

Built new in 2006, this is the perfect investment property or home residence.  As you can see from the photo, there are only 3 units in the complex.  Perfect for your student and two roomates, or an owner occupant who wants plenty of room.  Unique use of solar panels dramatically cuts utility costs.  Granite counters, stainless steel appliances, a fireplace, loads of storage, privacy, yet close to both USD, Fashion Valley, Mission Valley and just minutes from downtown San Diego.  This type unit is not even available in downtown San Diego, so if you want a condo with lots of room, this may be for you or yours.  Downtown San Diego condos tend to be smaller square footage for more money.  This townhome is more than expected.

This is also an opportunity to take advantage of a short sale.  The opportunity is second to none and the builder of this property wanted elegance.

If you aspire to a great neighborhood with easy access to the beach and downtown plus USD, give Victoria a call at 619-977-3174 for further details.

Downtown San Diego Condos: USD's MBA Program

The University of San Diego has a fantastic Master of Business Administration MBA program.  Victoria recently graduated with her MBA, and this adds to the MSRE she received from USD last year.

Here is the recent video completed by the USD School of Business.  As you can see, Victoria participated in the video, and as a parent, I am glad to see this.  In addition, as a businesswoman, Victoria has had a fantastic business education and translates that education into her workplace.  Combining the MBA and the MSRE gives Victoria a heads up for both residential and commercial San Diego real estate.     (Victoria is at 6:04 minutes into the video.)  Not hard to figure out who I want you to view is it?

New Condos Downtown San Diego:  Hooray!

When you write the blog, you get to pick the topic. Since this is primarily a real estate site, most of the blogs are about real estate. This one is the exception....Hooray! Victoria is graduating with her MBA today and we are so excited. This is the culmination of her Bachelor's degree, her Master of Real Estate Science MSRE last year, and now the final Master of Business Administration MBA. Victoria's father and I are so proud of all her effort, so excuse me for the bragging. However, those of you who have children who have worked hard in whatever they do will understand our feelings. We all hope our children make it to adulthood in good shape and as good human beings. We feel that all the blood, sweat and tears has been worth it. We would also like to congratulate all of you who have worked hard to raise your children. It isn't easy.

We also would like to thank all the professors, staff, guards, and everyone else at the University of San Diego who worked to make Victoria's experience so wonderful. Since USD is a Catholic University, we were a little apprehensive in the beginning since we are not Catholic. However, we picked the best university with the highest quality of people we could have chosen. USD is a family oriented university, or at least that has been our experience. Victoria's education is top notch and that is due to USD's environment.

Yep, bragging I have been doing, so I hope you all can excuse this once over the top blog.
