    San Diego Condos: Gaslamp Adventures

Last night downtown San Diego Gaslamp  hosted a gigantic private party.  The one fantastic thing about being in the Downtown San Diego Willis Allen office is that we are usually in the thick of things.

Yesterday was not an exception.  We had people running to and fro bringing in materials and setting up tables and stages and seating, etc.  The musical group Train, practiced and rehearsed during the afternoon, and it was like having your own private concert.  Dancing girls practiced on stages right out our front window, and when the event kicked off early evening, things got even more fun and enticing.

My favorite table was just across the street from us and you can see why it was my favorite.  Dick's Last Resort, next door to us, generously gave us cold water as we watched all the other fantastic food being set out on party tables.

Stilt girl was fun to see.  Usually you see men on stilts and I was trying to remember the last time I had seen a girl on stilts, and could not remember.  She ambled up and down the street, weaving in and out of the crowds.

Since we were not actually part of the event, we couldn't eat or drink so we went over to Buca di Beppo's for dinner.  They were packed, and as always our food was great.  When we returned to the office area, Train was rocking full force and all the attendees were having a wonderful time.

This is one of the many reasons we love downtown San Diego and Willis Allen.  We continue to be in the heart of things.  Downtown San Diego is the perfect place to own a condo and if you want to know the inventory, give Victoria a call.  You can also look at the companion blog with this that shows how much condo prices have started to creep upward.  I know the economy is hard on everyone, but Downtown San Diego condos continue to be great buys.

Downtown San Diego Condos: Funky Garcias is Truly Funky!

It is so fantastic living and working in Downtown San Diego.  Our Willis Allen office located next to Dick's Last Resort on 5th Avenue is at the center of the downtown hub of activity.  Victoria and I were feeling a little ravenous this afternoon so we decided to take a walk.  We ended up at Funky Garcias and from the exterior, the name definitely fits.  From the exterior it looks like one of those places where you have to think about going in for a meal.  However, Victoria assured me it serves fantastic Mexican food and she was right.  We ordered carne asada and chicken tacos and stuffed, stuffed, stuffed ourselves.

If you visit the Funky Garcias website you can see there are specials everyday.  The food is excellent, but what makes Funky's even better are its time-warped videos featuring Meat Loaf, Boy George and The Village People.  It was a real step back in time.

Everyone was cheerful.  Our waitress was efficient and attuned to our every ice tea refill need.  All in all it was a fantastic afternoon snack at a more than reasonable price.  If you are in Downtown San Diego, take a walk over to 421 Market and step inside Funky Garcias.  I loved it!

Downtown San Diego Condos: Willis Allen Marketing Tidbits

When you are selling your home or condo, you generally want every base covered as far as exposure of the property goes.  One of the best things Willis Allen Real Estate does is make sure we have every tool to market your property.  One of the most exciting tools to me, because I am so visual, is the plasma screen each office has in the front to showcase your listing.  This particular screen is located in our Coronado office and rotates through all of our listings.

This may seem like a small thing to you as the consumer, but if an office is located in an area where there are walk-ins, this is an important item.  The Coronado office has walk-ins on a daily basis, and the downtown San Diego office has walk-ins on an hourly basis. (I will admit the man in the bright pink pants was probably not a potential buyer)  However, if you are a downtown San Diego condo seller, wouldn't you like to have your property exposed to as many potential buyers as possible, and in as many ways as possible.?  Walk-in and walk-by traffic is important because you never know who might be interested in your property if you are the seller.

Next time you walk by a real estate office, whether Coronado or Downtown San Diego, take a peek inside the front door.  Is there marketing right in front of you?  If there is, this may be the brokerage to check out for sales.

Downtown San Diego Condos: Nexus Mid-Rise Unit

If you like East Village, this Willis Allen listing in Nexus might be of interest to you. Some buyers prefer mid-rise buildings versus massive towers.  This one-bedroom unit is on the 7th floor and what makes this such a nice unit is there is no unit above.  There is something great about not having people tromping around above you in your unit.  For those who like smaller buildings, this 72-unit Nexus is perfect.  Priced at $339,000 makes this an affordable possibility.  If you would like the full listing printout for this Nexus unit, just email or give us a call.

Nexus is located at 875 G St. in the East Village area of Downtown San DiegoThis is a series of articles by Sharyn and Victoria Crown, Downtown San Diego realtors.
